drink: French 75
Happy New Year everyone! Last night was a blur of champagne, confetti, and celebrations, but why should the fun end when the clock strikes at midnight? Probably one of the best moments of last night came from counting down with Anderson Cooper while simultaneously watching the ball drop and the sound of champagne flutes rang in the new year. Instead of toasting with classic champagne, the New Year’s Eve party I attended last night was serving a classic cocktail called the French 75. The drink gets its name from a gun that was used during World War I, which was small in size, but packed a pretty powerful punch. With its mix of champagne, gin, lemon juice, and sugar, it’s pretty easy to see how the cocktail earned its name. A basic recipe for this cocktail can be found here. Once you try it, it’ll probably be a drink you will sipping on year round. Bottoms up! Just thought I would suggest…

I love the French 75! Such a good drink. Chinese 88 at PF Changs is also very similar.
Love your blog. Neat layout. I always thought a French 75 was cognac and Champaign, “a seducer’s drink” because you hardly taste the cognac. I look forward to trying the true original!
