listen: HAIM

Songs: Falling, The Wire, Forever

There has been a lot of buzz surrounding the band, Haim, consisting of sisters Alana, Este, and Danielle Haim. Their music has hints of folk-rock mixed in with R&B. On paper, the combination sounds “Interesting”, but after one listen of any of the songs they have released, you forget all your skepticism and you’re hooked. Everything about these girls is awesome: they write their own songs, they each play multiple instruments and sing, they each have interesting individual backgrounds (Este graduated with a degree in Ethnomusicology, Danielle went on tour with Cee-Lo, Jenny Lewis, and Julian Casablancas of the Strokes). The debut album, “Days are Gone” will be available next week, but until then their EP, “Forever” will have to hold me over till then. They are definitely worth a listen if you’re interesting in finding the new best thing. Just thought I would suggest…
