explore: Cobh, Ireland

Cobh, Ireland
When it comes to Europe, the number of cities that literally and figuratively have a colorful history are endless. Cologne, Germany. Cinque Terre, Italy. Alesund, Norway. The list goes on and on. Another city that I have been reading about recently is Cobh, Ireland. When I think of Ireland, I think of rolling green hills for days and cobblestone castles. But Cobh has an interesting story associated with the town. It was the last port of call for the Titanic before it set off for America. These days, there is a walking tour called the Titanic Trail that goes through out the town, where visitors get to experience the colorful town first hand. I’m not sure why they didn’t show the town’s true colors (pun intended) in the film version, but now that I know a little more about the city, I plan on checking it out and so should you. Just thought I would suggest…

Hi, and thanks for dropping by!
Here is a possible solution for not showing the true colours in the film: a lot of houses in Ireland used to be grey – the bright colours are quite a recent thing – at the time of Titanic, the houses were probably the colour of the material they were built with – grey, or white (lime plaster was used on stone)
