appreciate: Valery Koshlyakov

Valery Koshlyakov Grand Opera ParisWorking in Washington, DC has made me take advantage of the several free art galleries in the area. While looking through the Washington Post, I saw an artist whose work will be featured in Goethe-Institut Gallery this month. The Russian born artist constructs large scaled paintings and sculptures with the use of the medium cardboard as his backdrop. Most of the subjects in his painting are architectural structures and the multiple layers of cardboard and color scheme gives his work a hazy feel to it work. More of his amazing work can be seen here. Also, if you are in the DMV area, you should check out his exhibition at the Goethe-Institut Gallery. Just thought I would suggest…

This really is a breathtaking piece of art. I visited DC for the first time this summer, and was blown away by how accessible and plentiful the art museums are! I have to admit, I’m pretty envious.

Great find I love the texture of his work – where can I see more of it?

Wow. That piece is so moving and beautiful. I can’t wait to check out the rest of his work. Sounds like I’ll need to make a trip down to Washington so I can see them in person!
