watch: House of Cards

house-of-cards-kevin-spaceyIt’s very rare for me to get addicted to a television show so quickly, but that’s exactly what happened when I reactivated my Netflix account and watched “House of Cards”. Yes, I know I’m behind when it comes to the “House of Cards” bandwagon, which premiered all 13 of its episodes on Netflix back in February, but I rarely turn down an opportunity to watch a television show that is based in Washington, DC. The drama/thriller which stars Kevin Spacey, Robin Wright, and Kate Mara, is about a congressman named Frank Underwood who gets denied the position of Secretary of State and plots to manipulate government officials to get what he ultimately wants: the presidency. The writing is amazing, don’t be surprised if you find yourself quote some of Underwood’s monologues, and the acting is spectacular, which goes without saying because Kevin Spacey is the star. A performance to look out for is Corey Stall, who plays Congressman Peter Russo. The range of emotions and situations Russo go through is amazing, you’ll hate him one minute, then you’ll sympathize with him the next. If this show isn’t nominated for any awards, I don’t know what’s wrong with the academy. If you have Netflix, I highly recommend watching this show (even if you don’t, just sign up for a free trial, then cancel it).

Hi, Thanks for popping over to my crib (quite literally ‘crib’!) and as you will have noted here: ( http://newbabynewdad.com/2013/07/01/what-do-kevin-spacey-autocracy-and-ribs-have-in-common/ ) Dad completely concurs with you on this series it gets an ‘AAA1’ rating from him and thus from me too.

I LOVE this series. I saw the whole original British series and loved it, too. As you can imagine, it’s a bit different. 🙂

  3. I am obsessed with this show! I only discovered it recently as well but I watched the entire season in the matter of days (oops!). Can’t wait until season 2!

  1. […] House of Cards-Love me some DC shows. After “Scandal”, this is one of my favorite shows dealing with the nation’s capital. A dark, witty drama that is perfect for binge watching. […]
