appreciate: El Anantsui

El AnatsuiLooking at the works of Ghanaian artist El Anatsui through photography doesn’t do them justice. The sculptor’s work is something that needs to be experienced and person, and based on the prestigious art galleries where his work has been shown, there is an increased chance that everyone may have access  to his creations. Anatsui’s medium of choice is wood, metal, and other miscellaneous items that he comes across and weaves them together into these large wall installations/sculptures. In his works, the inspiration from his Ghanaian heritage is evident with his thoughtful arrangements and vibrant colors. One of my favorite things about Anatsui’s work is that observers can see the movements in each of his works, even though the sculptures are stationary. You can see more of Anatsui’s work here; I highly suggest it.
