Drink: Berry Caipilé
As I was getting dressed to go to work today, I couldn’t help but wish that it was warmer. The east coast has been spoiled this winter with insanely warm weather that almost got me believing that it was summer, or at least spring. The past week was an unpleasant reminder that alas, this was not true. But, that doesn’t mean I should let that fact hold me down, it’s summer somewhere. In fact, in a few days, Brazil will officially be celebrating Carnivale at the same time I will be unofficially celebrating it here with this berry caipilé cocktail. In spite of the “fancy” name, a caipilé is basically a caipirinha with a popsicle. Here’s what you’ll need:
- 3 quartered strawberries (stems removed)
- 3 whole blackberries
- 2-3 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup crushed ice
- About 1 cup of sparkling water (for a non-alcoholic version) or 1/4 cup of cachaça or vodka (alcoholic version)
- 1 tangerine popsicle
Bottoms up!

In case you’re not going to make it to Brazil for Carnivale this year…make this drink, turn up the heat, put on your bikini and relax…
Hmm it seems like your blog ate my first comment (it was extremely long) so I guess I’ll just sum it up what I wrote and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog. I as well am an aspiring blog writer but I’m still new to the whole thing. Do you have any tips and hints for novice blog writers? I’d certainly appreciate it.
