Live: Dress Form Mannequin as Decoration

Like almost every other girl, I had a brief moment of wanting to be a fashion designer. I would get InStyle and Vogue magazines from the library and draw all the outfits that I thought were pretty. Then, I realized I didn’t have the creative energy to create 2 to 3 20 piece collections each year and decided to be a writer. I still love fashion and to pay homage to those days, I think a great piece to add to a room or office for any fashion obsessed person would a dress form. You could use it to model an outfit from your closet, to showcase your favorite necklace, or who knows, you might get inspiration someday and use it to make an actual dress someday.

  1. My daughter collaged one of these entirely with black and white images of iconic women, for a school art project years ago, and it still sits in her room. They make a a beautiful piece.

So nice to keep the “Vogue” period alive in your adult life.

Love this idea! Since I sew, I have a dress form plus an actual mannequin, and I do consider them part of my decor. Sometimes one or the other functions as an impromptu coat rack, but they’re usually modeling my latest knitwear designs. I really enjoy their presence!
