Explore: Phugtal Monastery, India

I am a huge fan of innovative architecture  and buildings and this location is a prime example of building that was ahead of its time. The Phugtal Monastery was built around the 12th century and is one of the most isolated monasteries in the region. It is the home of around 40 monks and it built into the cliffside of a huge cave opening that is near a gorge. The structures are situated in a way that makes it look like a honeycomb. The monastery was built on a tall cliff, but is reachable by going through the Padum-Manali trekking route. This structure is truly one of a kind and even the experience of  only seeing it would be amazing.
