Appreciate: Sammy Slabbinck

When I was younger, I used to love cutting up old fashion magazines that were lying around the house and make collages out of them. I mostly did it because as a 7 year old, I saw it as a form of “artistic expression” and I  also thought the colors and the pictures were pretty. If I was patient and took the time, my collages might have told a story like the composer of the work above does. Sammy Slabbinck is a Belgian artist who uses vintage photographs and makes collages out them, some of them could be considered social commentary. The way he complies his cutouts makes the end product look like it was one continuous photograph, giving it a cool effect. More of this talented artist’s works can be found here.
