Explore: Caño Cristales, Colombia
The Caño Cristales is probably one of the most beautiful rivers in the world. It is a river in Colombia that is more commonly known as the “The River of Seven Colors” because the algae and moss at the bottom of the river naturally produces different colors like red, yellow, green, and blue. Sadly this only happens for a brief period of time each year, between the wet and dry seasons. Sadly, the river was closed to tourists for several years due to guerrilla activity, but was opened up again in 2009. So if you’re ever in the area and don’t mind a little traveling (the river is not accessible by road), you should definitely check out this river and the mini waterfalls.
