Listen: Lana del Rey

Songs: “Blue Jeans“, “Video Games“, and “Born to Die

Lana del Rey is one of those artists that people either to hate or just plain and simply love. There is unarguably not many artists like Lana del Rey in popular music. She has the face and body of a model (in fact, she does model for H&M), but when she sings, she has the voice of a 1960s lounge singer or as she describes it, she’s a “self-styled gangsta Nancy Sinatra”, a good example of this can be found in her song, “Blue Jeans”. Her debut album, “Born to Die”, came out earlier this year and has sold over 2 million albums worldwide and the re-issuing of the album, the Paradise edition comes out in November. If you’re in the mood for multi-layered music that takes influences from all different genres of music, Lana del Rey is worth a listen.
