Wear: Mandy Coon Spring 2013

There is a pretty cool story behind the inspiration for Mandy Coon’s Spring 2013 collection. She thought about the process of how MIDI files were  used in electronic instruments and computers as a way of connecting one another and wanted to translate that into fashion by usinga file’s digital pattern as a print material. She recruited Pontus Winnberg from Miike Snow to create a track and turned its data into a pattern that she used in laser cut and print. The inclusion can be seen in each outfit and doesn’t overwhelm the entire aesthetic. All the looks are extremely wearable and the dresses are edgy and youthful. I was not aware of Mandy Coon before today, but she is definitely one designer I’ll pay attention to in the future.
