Wear: Altuzarra Spring 2013
My first introduction to the talented designer Joseph Altuzarra was from watching his showcases in the Vogue CFDA Fashion Fund competition, where he was the winner of $300,000 first place prize for his label. Based on his Spring 2013, that was money well earned and well spent. He seemed to be inspired by gyspy culture, draping his models in decadent, rich, detailed fabrics that were well-tailored and accented with gold tassels. Some of the earlier pieces he brought down the runway had some western influence, as seen in the third picture, that could be worn to the office. But, the looks that caught my eye were the dresses. The first dress reminds me of early Rodarte, mixing fabrics of different textures, fabrics and colors, but Altuzarra did it in a more polished way. The second dress is simple and classic in comparison to the other looks, but I could see it on an Altuzarra fan like Kate Bosworth at an event. The real showstopper, besides the amazing gladiator sandal/boot hybrid is the final dress, which was all out gypsy couture. This collection solidified my love for this designer and hopefully, you fall in love too.
