Listen: Bombay Bicycle Club
For fans of Jack Penate, Two Door Cinema Club, and any other British indie bands, you’ll probably like Bombay Bicycle Club. Formed in 2005 in Northern London, the quartet has been performing in various music festivals like Readings and Leeds and Lollapalooza for a few years now. They released their first couple of albums on their independent label, Mmm Records, before signing with Island Records. Their first single to make it across the pond was “Shuffle” and was a top 40 hit on the US Billboard Alternative songs. The piano is reminiscent of some of Grizzly Bear’s arrangements with the jumpy piano bit in the beginning. All their songs have a chill, summery vibe with laid-back vibe vocals of the lead singer, Jack Steadman. Another one of their singles,”How Can You Swallow So Much Sleep”, can be found as a bonus track on the “Twilight Saga: Eclipse” soundtrack (That’s not how I found out about them, I swear). These guys are the perfect band to listen as the lazy summer days wind down. Highly recommended.
Fun Fact: The group may have gotten its name from a chain of Indian restaurants in Britain (a little random)
